I Was Attacked by a Bat

Last week, I was attacked by a bat. Not a baseball bat, but an actual batman bat 🦇

It was a normal Tuesday, and I was on my way to meet a good friend for a morning coffee. We ordered our drinks and went to sit outside. We talked for a few minutes, and before I could even take a sip of my coffee, something flew right at me at full speed. It bumped into my hand.

At first, I thought it was a fruit falling from the trees or maybe even a bird. I tried to shake my hand to make it fall, but it didn’t. It felt like something was really clinging to my hand. Instinctively, still not knowing what it was, I grabbed it with my other hand and threw it away as quickly as possible.

Cute little bat friend

It was only then, when I saw it on the floor, that I realized it was a bat. A bat had flown right at me, locked on my hand, and would not let go. After the initial shock, I called the Ministry of Health to find out what I should do, and they informed me that I had to get a rabies vaccine. I went to the emergency room and got the first of four vaccine shots that I need to take over the next two weeks.

As of now, I have already had three vaccine shots and have only one left, which I should get next week. After every vaccine, I felt terrible, practically sick, and had to take a few days off, which made me cancel work, study, and plans. That is also why I wasn’t able to write anything here, but I knew the first thing should be this super weird and random story.

Hopefully, I will get back to normal soon, or at least start to feel like I'm gaining superpowers.
